It is with deep sadness that the family announce the passing of our beloved John (Cash) Comegan, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend at the age of 69, on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Big Grassy First Nation.
He was predeceased by his parents George Comegan and Annie Elliott, daughter Mary Comegan, brother Gordon Comegan, sister Mary Daniels and two siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons Albert George, Johnny Melon Jr, Wayne Comegan, daughter Betty George, numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Cash was born August 14, 1936 on Lake of the Woods to the late George Comegan and Annie Elliott. He lived on Lake of the Woods all of his life. He worked as a tourist guide for various camps, commercial fisherman, lumberjack and trapper.
He loved spending time with his friends and family. John was a fun loving person, he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing Country Music. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He leaves to mourn his special friends,; Wesley Big George, Artie Blight, George Camp, Indiana Larry, Stuart and Yvonne Gill, Bill Luney, Rob Budreau, Fred Jack, Ernest Copenace, Ken Vogan, Brian Russell, Rod Pickett, Norman Spears, Thelma Fadden, Rene Nordberg, Larry Bernst, Leonard Morrison, Trevor Blight, Elaine Blight, Brenda Phillips and many others too numerous to name.
Pall bearers were Wesley Big George, Noel Comegan, Sean Comegan, James Comegan Jr., Ernest Copenace and Vernon Tuesday.
Honorary Pall bearers were his friends and family.
A traditional wake was held Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Big Grassy Community Hall, funeral services took place Sunday April 2, 2006. Cremation will take place at a later date.
