Police nab deportee

On March 26th, 2006 at approximately 5:30 p.m. the Fort Frances OPP investigated a motor vehicle collision in the 1100 First Street East that resulted in the laying of seven charges against a Jamaican man.
Officers originally observed the accused driving in a suspicious manner in the 1100 block of Mill Rd and after checking the status of the vehicle noted the vehicle accelerated into the 1300 block of First St E. After further patrol a report was taken that a vehicle matching the suspect car had struck a home in the 1100 block of First Street East. The driver of the car was apprehended a short distance away and after providing the police with a number of false identities was arrested for Personation with Intent. Subsequently, the vehicle and suspect were searched and the officers located approximately 30 grams of cocaine.
Juan Anthony Hardy, age 35 of Jamaica, has been charged with Personation with Intent, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Obstruct Peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and a number of Highway Traffic Act offences. Canada Immigration Services are assisting the OPP in its investigation. Hardy was held in custody and will appear in court on April 3rd, 2006.
