Temperatures are rising and it‚s time to get back to exercising outside. Solvay Pharmaceuticals and the Triple A Booster Club invite you to take part in the annual Willie Walleye 5K Run/Walk to be held Saturday, June 3, at 9 a.m. Race headquarters is at the ambulance garage behind The Ranch House restaurant, and the race will start and finish on 1st Street. This event will kick off Baudette‚s 15th Annual Willie Walleye Day celebration.
Plaques will be awarded to the overall male and female winners, and medals will be given to the top three male and female finishers in several age groups. All participants will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag. Refreshments will be provided after the race and door prizes, including gift certificates for Road ID merchandise, will also be up for grabs.
There is a $15 entry fee for the race, and early registration is strongly recommended. Race day registration will cost $20. Last year‚s race participants were mailed entry forms in mid-March. Forms are also available at Solvay Pharmaceuticals, the Lake of the Woods High School Office, Rainy River High School, Brockie‚s Jewellers in Fort Frances, or by contacting race director Sariina Kalli at 218-783-3006.
Proceeds from this 5K event go to the Lake of the Woods-Rainy River Cross Country team. Participate in the WW5K this June, then check your summer fitness progress at the Baudette Centennial 5K in July and Warroad‚s Yellow Rose 5K in August.
