Twenty two members were present at our April luncheon meeting at the Gasthaus. Joan Hall said Grace and we all partook of an absolutely delicious meal. Thank you Pat and Toni.
Our regular meeting followed; auxiliary prayer read by all, minutes given and financial statement read. There was no business from the minutes.
Correspondence included a thank you from Olga Sirman, a letter on health & wellness fair being held at the Community Centre on April 28 from 1-7 p.m. Cindy Gauthier, (Riverside Diabetic Educator) will be guest speaker. We will help with this, ie door, sandwiches etc.
Also a letter from the Town, re Town Beautification. Several of our members have gone, and will attend upcoming meetings, and bring reports back, so we may participate.
Five members attended the east-west H.A.A.O. joint spring conference at Thunder Bay. The guest speakers were Dr. Dan Hunt, vice Dean Northern Ontario of Medicine, Jan Skinner, Assc. Regional Manager, CNIB and spoke on Macular degeneration, Lee Stone on identity theft, Pat Morris, on living with Mental illness, and Jean Fotheringham, president of H.A.A.O. We all found the speakers very informative, and learned from them.
New business was the strawberry social to be held May 17th at the Legion from 2-4. There will be Strawberry short cake, tea & coffee, indoor draws, penny table, plants, etc. The cost a the door is $3.00 includes dessert.
Finally as a show of our appreciation for all the many years of hard work she put in, and still is, we presented Buddy Hannam with a life membership certificate from the Auxiliary. Surprised and weepy, Buddy graciously thanked us. This concluded our meeting. The next meeting is May 1 at the hospital.
