Donnie Gall
RRHS Coach

RRHS won three golds and one silver at the NORWOSSA playdowns Tuesday April 11.
Joel Ashworth and Carling Nordin went 5-0 to capture gold in the Senior
Mixed Doubles. They worked hard all day and dominated the field to advance to NWOSSA.
Defending gold medal champs Chantel Heyens and Hillary Hansen won yet again this time as Senior’s in the Girls Double Division. They went 5-0 and played extremely well. They should do great at NWOSSA.
In the Junior Division Molly Bartlett and Kristen Moen also went 5-0 to capture NORWOSSA Gold in Junior Girls Doubles. This pair has been dominant all season and have an excellent chance of NWOSSA Gold.
Danny Usiski and Nick Ashworth had to pull one out of the fire to earn a berth to NWOSSA. They were in a three way tie for 2nd but managed to pull out the victory going 4-2 to gain Silver and move on.
Corrissa Hanson and Brittany Jasper finished in 3rd place in Senior Girls Doubles.
Peter Atkinson and Kate Bartlett placed 4th in Junior mixed Doubles.
Alyshia Langlais and Meaghan Jasper Junior Girls Doubles and Jordan Hansen Junior Boys Singles both finished a respectable 6th.
The RRHS team finished the playdowns in third place overall out of 11 schools. Atikokan once again won the championship with 84 pts. Thomas Aquinas (Kenora) finished 2nd with 51 pts. RRHS had 50 pts just falling short of 2nd by one point.
The goal at the beginning of the season was at least 3rd and we accomplished that.
This is the best showing that our school has ever had in Badminton and I am extremely proud of all the players for a great effort this season.
Only Senior players have a chance to move on to OFSAA which will be held in Timmins in May.
Good Luck to all players at NWOSSA.
