Thirteen locals to participate in

The list of charitably oriented people in the Rainy River area never seems to get shorter.
Rainy River resident Ken Jasper is leading a team of 19 people in a fundraiser for Multiple Sclerosis on April 30, 2006 in Winnipeg. Of those 13 of them are from Rainy River and Pinewood.
They will be participating in the MS Super Cities Walk for the first time. Jasper who was diagnosed with MS about three years ago is really happy with the support the team is showing.
Every adult on the team had to have $125 raised by April 6th and every kid 11 and under $75 by that date. That goal was met by the team known as the Rainy River Rebels. In total Jasper was hoping to raise $3,000 and is very happy to report that they have already exceeded that goal with a few days left to go.
Participating on the 5 k.m. walk with him is his wife Gaylene, kids Brittany, Meaghan and Bryson, Dennis and Lisa Jodoin, Alyssa Jodoin, Cathy and Dayna Seguin, Jenelle and Dylan Lowes as well as six of his relatives from Winnipeg.
MS attacks the central nervous system and fortunately for Ken it was caught in the very early stages to be treatable with medication now. It did change his life, especially his job as a policeman. “I am on office duties and do miss going on the road with the guys.”
He said it was very unnerving when doctors could not find out what was wrong with him. However, he is now on top of it and is trying to do his part along with a fairly large group of friends and family in the walk. All proceeds from the walk go to MS research. Anyone wishing to pledge one of the team members can contact any of them or go on the MS Supercities website (http://www.mssociety.ca/manitoba/scwalk_winnipeg.htm) and look up Rainy River Rebels and sponsor them there.
