Les Rouge Rogues
23 ladies celebrated at the latest Les Rouge Rogues rendez-vous- the “Easter Egg-stravaganza,” April 18th at the Roadside Restaurant. Hostesses for the party were Lady Linda of La-Di-Da (Linda Budreau), Duchess Do Little (Elsie Morrison) & Queen La Diva (Susan Douglas). Party favours of egg candles adorned the colourful tables decorated in an Easter & bunny theme.
Kazoos were tooted in commemoration of three birthdays, Lady Izzy’s 65th (Janet Wolanicki) , Lady Snowbird’s aged to perfection (Ruth Holt) and Princess Not Waiting’s 50th (Donna Moen). A red hat game was played with Donna Moen taking home the winning prize.
Following a toast to ourselves, a delicious meal was served featuring ham, scallop potatoes, and all the wonderful trimmings. The unusual door prize was won by Lady Cynthia LaFleur (Cyndi Bolen).
Our highlight of the evening was the first ever “Reduation” of Donna Moen from a pink hatter to a red hatter. Donna sat upon a lovely crimson throne while Duchess Do Little read out the “Warning” poem. Donna received many extraordinary gifts according to the poem.
An adorned cane was run along the wooden chairs and presented to Donna, along with a bouquet of flowers representing those picked from “other people’s gardens,” Donna received many useful gifts, along with the not so usual, three pounds of frozen sausages, a jar of pickles & loaf of bread, a container of beer mats & pens, and slippers “to wear in the rain.” Her purple birthday fedora was replaced with the red birthday hat which is 50 yrs. old and belonged to Mary Budreau. The pink balloon was popped and the red balloon placed in Donna‚s hands as again kazoos tuned in. Queen La Diva pinned a leather trillium brooch on Donna and dubbed her with the royal wand, “Lady Trillium.” Lady Trillium then declared her excitement in becoming a full fledged red hatter much to the delight of those in attendance. Announcements of the upcoming events concluded the evening with a great deal of applause.
