Local gymnists do well at regional meets

Ken Johnston

Three local girls have been springing their way to the top of the gymnastics podium lately.
Meaghan Vogan, Shauna Moen and Kendra Moen have all been competing in the past month.
At the Springfest Competition in Fort Frances on April 1st, the girls finished as such.
In the 7 and 8 year old category the competitors compete for marks rather than against each other as they do in the older groups.
Kendra Moen competed for her second year in the age 7 group. She received four bronze medals in each of the following events: Floor, Vault, Beam and Bars. She also received a Silver overall in her age group.
Meaghan Vogan competed for her 1st year in the age 8 group. She received four bronze in the following events: Floor, Vault, Beam and Bars. She also received a Bronze overall in her age group.
Shauna Moen competed at level three in the 10 year old group. At this level they compete for marks and against other competitors. Facing seven others in her group she placed as follows: 4th in Floor, 3rd in Vault, 2nd in Beam and 3rd in Bars. She received a Silver overall as well.
On April 22nd the Moen girls competed in Sioux Lookout (Vogan did not attend).
Kendra received a silver in Floor, gold in Vault, bronze in beam and silver in Bars as well as a Silver overall.
Shauna faced seven competitors an placed 5th in Floor, 3rd in Vault, 2nd in Beam and 1st in Bars with a Silver overall.
That ends the season for the girls. They all belong to the Fort Frances Viserettes Gymnastics Club. The Moens practise two times a week and Vogan once a week.
