RRHS principal Bob McGreevy to retire

The Rainy River District School Board recently announced several new appointments for Principals and Vice Principals of its schools effective August 2006. There will be three new personnel joining the Board’s leadership team.
Dianne Thompson, current Principal of Huffman School, will assume the role of Principal at Crossroads School. Joining her as Vice Principal of Crossroads, will be Leslie Barr-Kellar who is the current Vice Principal at Huffman.
Donna Kowalchuk, Principal at Crossroads School, will become the Principal at Huffman School. Donna Kowalski, who has worked for the Board for 13 years, has been appointed to the position of Vice Principal at Huffman. Donna Kowalski has worked in Elementary and Secondary schools across the district in roles such as the Native Student Retention Coordinator and as a classroom teacher. For the past eight years, she has been at Crossroads School as a classroom teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, Student Achievement Teacher and Teacher In Charge.
Bill Daley, Vice Principal of J.W. Walker School, will replace Heather Campbell as the Principal of J.W. Walker. Heather Campbell was appointed to the position of Superintendent of Education. Peg Keffer, current Vice Principal at Crossroads, will move to J.W. Walker School’s Vice Principal position.
Al McManaman, Robert Moore School Vice Principal, will join the leadership team at Fort Frances High School where he will continue in the role of Vice Principal.
Brad Oster will replace Al McManaman as Vice Principal at Robert Moore School. Brad Oster worked as a teacher at Robert Moore for six years and has been a Shared Reading Trainer for the Rainy River District School Board for the past year. He has also been an active member on both school and system committees.
Ian Simpson will retire as Assistant to the Director and return in August as Principal of Sturgeon Creek School and Sturgeon Creek Alternative Program. Don McBride will join Ian Simpson as Vice Principal of both schools.
The Rainy River District School Board wishes Bob McGreevy, Principal of Rainy River High, all the best in retirement. He will be replaced by Rainy River High’s current Vice Principal, Casey Slack. Appointed to the position of Acting Vice Principal at Rainy River High, is Jim Chorney. Jim Chorney has been teaching at Rainy River High School for the last 15 years and currently serves on many school and community committees.
