Ann Marie Asselin, 77
Ann Marie Asselin 77 of Pinewood, Ontario passed away at her residence on Sunday, May 7, 2006.
Ann was born on March 5, 1929 in LaBroquerie, Manitoba to the late Frank and Josephine Langlais. Ann moved to the Rainy River District and later was the owner/operator of Ann’s Restaurant in Rainy River. She was a member of Our Lady of the Way Church in Pinewood and was also a 17 year Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 54 in Rainy River. She loved to cook and was well known for her baking.
Ann is survived by her children Randy (Gayle), and Terry, all of Pinewood, Loretta (Ron) Hosken of Dryden, Debbie (Ken) Whalen of Fort Frances and Cindy (John) Ricci of Rainy River. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Nicole (Kirk) Wood and their children Lara and Jack, Becky Whalen (Eric Onichuk) and their son Adam, Sonya Asselin (John McQuaker) and their children Christopher and Taytum, Garrett Asselin (Angie McQuaker) and their daughter Paige, Scott Asselin (Alana Wolanicki) and their sons Jayden and Luke, Barry Asselin and Jennifer Hutchison, Ryan Hosken, Tracy Whalen and Janelle Ricci, 2 brothers, Albert (Joanne) Langlais of Ear Falls, Alphonse (Annette) Langlais of Pinewood, 2 sisters, Madeline Desaulniers of Kenora, Betty (Dennis) Wensley of B.C. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was united in marriage to Henry Joseph Asselin who predeceased her on August 10, 1999. She was also predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Jennifer and Stephen, brother Leo Langlais and sisters Evelyn Voodre, Lea Dubois, Rose Gouliquer and Francis Goodman.
Vigil Prayers were held on Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Way Church in Pinewood.
A celebration of Ann’s life was held on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of the Way Church in Pinewood with Father Dan Debano officiating.
The honourary pallbearers were Ann’s brothers and sisters, Albert Langlais, Alphonse Langlais, Madeline Desaulniers and Betty Wensley.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date.
