Red Hatters getting ready for some Pink Flamingo fun

Red Hat Waterside Luncheon with Riparian Entertainment
Four members from our local chapter of the Red Hat Society headed for Minneapolis, May 5th-7th for a red hatter rendezvous. Lady Ladyslipper (Jean Bernst), Lady Trillium, (Donna Moen), Queen La Diva, (Susan Douglas) and the New Princess Not Waiting, (Yvonne Gill) met with the Seattle, Wash. girls, and three Queens and their ladies from the cities. The weekend was spent shopping in the mall, visiting the aquarium.....Red hat style, and doing more red hat shopping in the quaint, beautiful town of Stillwater. All the cherry trees and lilacs were in bloom and the weather was more than cooperative. The ladies strutted their regalia on the streets and were asked by many of the prom grads to take their pictures with them. “We really felt like celebrities”, commented Donna. “What a great time we had, especially going to the IHOP in our pyjamas.” (We warned them ahead of time and they announced us over the speakers with thanks.)
Twenty ladies motored to Stratton for our May event, which was painting colourful garden signs.
The ladies brought along their supper and enjoyed the treats provided by the Stratton girls. Everything was going along nicely until our Queen sauntered over to check out Lady Carolina Rose’s project and tripped; painting a nice purple tear down the Lady’s cheek. Not soon after the clumsy Queen tripped in the same area and Lady Trillium became the victim. (Dark purple seemed to be the Queen’s trademark.) The ladies not wanting to be outdone soon sent an innocent Duchess of Dollies, (Jessie Bodnarchuk) to prey upon the unsuspecting Queen La Diva. Before the event ended the Queen donned colours of yellow, and shades of purple on her face, while each lady left with at least the Queen’s dark purple brand. “After all”, the Queen remarked, “You did make me promise to rule with silliness!”
In June, Les Rouge Rogues, entertained with a fashion show at Christian Women’s Club. Their costumes were “Red-iculous” as worn over the past two years. Elvis made a special appearance to sing a number with the ladies. The finale showed the Crazy hats & bra purses, Poodle skirts, pyjama party, medieval costumes, murder mystery outfits and Puttin on the Ritz fashions.
Our next event is A Waterside Luncheon with Riparian Entertainment/Pink Flamingo theme, at Lady Eleanor ‘s, Tues., June27th. A potluck will be served at 1 p.m. followed with a river cruise, games & refreshments
