RR Library/OYEC to host children’s entertainers July 1st
Penny Shumaker
The Rainy River Public Library and The Family Resource Program/OEYC are hosting a concert in Hannam Park on July 1st.
Back by popular demand will be “Jim ‘n’ I.” They were so much fun last year, we decided to bring them back to town to help us celebrate Canada Day. Children’s activities will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the concert will follow at 11:00 a.m. until noon.
Many area families know the Rainy River Public Library & The Family Resource Program/OEYC have partnered several times this year to provide fun activities.
A weekly story hour was held at the library every Tuesday morning and served over 35 children and 25 adults. It wrapped up last week with a visit from Paramedic Cheryl Morrison with an ambulance. Everyone enjoyed the visit.
The library and OYEC participated in the Riverview Family Literacy Celebration with displays and we brought Chapters into the school for that event. The Library received over $200 in new books from Chapters.
A Family Literacy Night was held in January with over 35 participants sponsored by the Legion, Scholastic Books and the Recreation Board.
“A Book & A Bite” was held again this year at Riverview for 12 weeks. It included food for the tummy and food for the brain and brought guest readers into the school each week.
While you are enjoying the summer don’t forget to visit and check out summer activities at the library and OEYC.
The Public Library will have new summer hours for July and August. Monday to Friday 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and closed Saturday and Sunday. The Family Resource Program/OEYC will be open Tuesday & Wednesday 9:30 - 3:00, Thursday 12:00 - 7:00, Friday 9:30 - 1:00 and closed Saturday through Monday.
