Brother, do you have the time?

Brother, do you have the time? That question would probably prompt us to look at our watch. But I’d like to consider time in a different light. Never in all of history has time seemed to be so important. If we consider time in Abraham’s days or in Jesus’s days we get a different perspective. It would take days, weeks or months to get a message from town to town. This message transfer was even slower than what we refer o as “snail” mail today.
Now we must do things instantly, the faster the better we think. We can’t even drive home from work without being on our cell phone once or twice. We have become a society of impatient, worry burdened, I need it right now type of people.
Lets look again at Abraham, God promised him he would be the Father of a nation, a nation who’s descendants would be as numerous as the dust of the earth (Genesis 13:16). Stop: Think: If God was to tell any one of us that we were to be the father of a nation, what would be our response? Laugh as Sarah did or rush head on into the project. For our way of doing thinks we would start this minute, have a dozen children and do Gods plan for him. But, Gods plan was different, his concept of time is so different than ours.
Think of poor old Abraham or Sarah. Time was passing, no children, 75, 80, 85, 99, then at 99 Abraham & Sarah had a child. Impossible! Not to God. All things are posssible to him.
If we consider time in Jesus day, he walked miles and miles, from town to town and had time for everyone. Today we would set up another “Gov’t agency” to take care of people. We are asked to give cups of cold water in Jesus name. Really this is encouraging us to take time for others.
Some think that God has “No Plan” for their lives. In fact God does have a plan for each of our lives.
First, we need to take the time to learn about Him. He will give us the wisdom to live our lives as he has planned for us. Read Proverbs 1:1-7 or James 1:5 which says, “If any lack wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously without finding fault.
If each of us was to take the time to know our creator what a changed world we would live in. We’d have time for each other, time to smell the roses, time to go to church on Sunday. Time is an amazing thing, God is in control of it, even our days are numbered. How do we know what time it is in our lives?
I started with one question, I end with two.
Brother, sister do you have the time? and if not now when.
