Warnings of an early Fall?

Did you see what I saw last week?
The birds are starting to flock.
I was astounded to see the geese flying over Rainy River last week in the middle of August.
Could we be in store for an early Fall?
While winter was mild, spring came early and the summer was hot and dry, I am not ready to concede that summer is over in mid August. Are you?
But I have noticed the flies are getting stupid, the hornets more aggressive and now the birds flocking. It is hard to ignore the signs.
There are even some trees turning yellow already.
But perhaps it is just that the early spring and hot dry summer has seen everything run its clock out. I know many things in my garden are done and have been for a week or two.
Everything is pointing towards an early Fall, but there is one thing we can not change... the rotation of the Earth on its axis.
That is why we have fixed dates for the beginning and end of Summer. It is supposed to end on Sept 21 when Fall begins.
So I am hoping that the plants, animals and insects are just a bit out of sync with the planet.
I would like to see it stay mild through the middle of the month, but if it doesn’t I guess I can’t say I wasn’t warned.

–Until then,
