Leon Joseph Hughes, 35

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our son Leon Hughes in Rainy River, Ontario on Sunday, August 20, 2006. Leon was born in Baudette, Minnesota on August 23, 1970 to Janet and Gerry Hughes. He attended and graduated from Rainy River High School. After graduation he worked at the C.N. Bunkhouse in Rainy River for 5 years. He enjoyed music, movies and spending time with his family, especially going on shopping trips to the city with his Mom and Dana. Leon was always a considerate person and he never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Leon was predeceased by his father Gerald Hughes, maternal grandparents Anne and Bill Race, paternal grandparents Norman and Yvonne Hughes and uncle David Hughes. He leaves to mourn his mother Janet Hughes and stepfather Dana Kaliska of Rainy River, sister Nanette and husband Bill Drellack of Warroad, MN, nieces Mellissa and Brianna and nephews Brandon, Michael and Nick of Warroad, MN, sister Dawn Ivall and nephew Skyler Ivall of Rainy River as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service with family and friends attending was held on Monday, August 28, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Rainy River. Reverend Barbara Miller officiated followed by interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. Close together or far apart you’re forever in my heart.
