It was a safe Labour Day weekend

(Fort Frances, Ontario) On September 1st, at approximately 6:30 pm members of the Fort Frances Detachment of the OPP investigated a disturbance in the 200 block of Scott Street. As a result of that investigation Joel Walton, age 25, of Fort Frances was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an Undertaking. Walton was subsequently released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 11th.
Shortly before midnight on September 1st, members of the Fort Frances OPP observed a male individual causing a disturbance on the 400 block of Third St West. As a result of this investigation Bobby Morrison, age 19, of Lac La Croix First Nation was arrested and charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. Morrison was remanded into custody and will appear in court on a later date.
OPP officers across the Rainy River District were highly visible during the Labour Day Weekend participating in a provincial wide road safety campaign. As a result two drivers were charged for alcohol related offences. An additional 30 Highway Traffic Offence notices were issued.
The OPP would like to remind motorists that school is well underway and to be extra diligent in school zones. The Highway Traffic Act requires all vehicles to stop when following or approaching a school bus with the stop sign activated.
