Girls hockey team to hold golf fundraiser Sept. 30th

It is almost the end of golfing season for hockey players and to cap it off the Lake of the Woods/Rainy River/Indus girls varsity hockey team is holding its 4th Annual Fund raiser Golf Tournament.
It will be held on Sept. 30, 2006 at Oak Harbor Golf Course and will be a 4 person 18 hole scramble. Anyone is welcome to enter a team or the hockey team will find you a team to play on.
There is a registration fee and all proceeds will be used to help pay for ice time during practises and games as well as new equipment. The LoW School Board has agreed to cover the team’s travel this year, but unlike the boys team, is not paying for ice time.
“It is up to us, but I am confident that it will be achievable,” said Coach Mike Mosher. Until very recently the team had to cover all their expenses, including travel and managed to meet those obligations through fund raising efforts as well as generous donations from groups like the Canadian Legion in Rainy River.
