70 sign up for local Biggest Loser contests
Nicole Therrien
Nurse Practisioner
The Rainy River High School and the McCrosson-Tovell School were busy on Tuesday and Wednesday evening to receive registration for the “Biggest Loser” contest.
Forty-eight participants registered in Rainy River and twenty-two people registered in Bergland. Enthusiasm was running high as they waited to be weighed and measured.
Pat Stoyka and I, Nicole Therrien, were absolutely overwhelmed by the number of individuals who registered for this program as we did not anticipate such a tremendous response! We ran out of registration binders and weight-in forms, however, we hope to have them for the coming week.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who is helping to make the “Biggest Loser” contest a success. We have started to receive donations from local organizations and we are very pleased with their generosity and prizes.
The contests are run together so anyone who registers to either Rainy River or Bergland can be weighed at either place. Just bring your blue or pink card with you to qualify for the prize of the week. Private weight-in areas are provided at both locations for confidentiality. No other alternative will be accepted for the weight-in. You must weight-in at the designated area to qualify for the weekly prize.
Each week a door prize will be given for attendance and a fruit basket will be given to the biggest loser of the week. You do not have to stay after weight-in to qualify for either prize but you have to have been weighed in the prior week for the biggest loser prize.
I am available to discuss your food intake, level of exercise, or any changes you are making to achieve your goal. The purpose of this session is to get you motivated to obtain a healthier life style and improve your well-being by promoting regular exercise and healthy eating.
Weigh-in will start at 6:30 pm at both places with Pat Stoyka or I facilitating the weekly event. We have scheduled a guest speaker Hal Wilhite on September 26, 2006 to talk on “Unlocking Personal Motivation” in Rainy River and on October 4 in Bergland. The education session will start at 6:00 pm both places.
We will accept registration throughout the program. We eagerly look forward to see you next week.
