It is a bit of a change for him, but new Riverview School teacher Jason Cain, is enjoying the challenge.
Cain, a native of Fort Frances, taught at Fort Frances High School for the past two years but only part time. Looking for a full time position he jumped at the opportunity to teach grade 6/7 in Rainy River.
He studied at the University of Guelph and Lakehead University, majoring in Biology and Math. However, here he is teaching all subjects accept French.
He found high school to be a bit more regimented but said that with the proper planning each day he is finding success with his 28 students. The biggest challenge for Cain is the Language related courses. “It is a learning curve for me but I am getting it down to a science.”
While he said he has a good bunch of kids, the warmer weather of late has made it tougher to keep their minds on task.
Cain is married and his wife is a full time teacher at Robert Moore School in Fort Frances. He eventually hopes to work back in Fort but is going full speed ahead here.
He is helping coach cross country and hopes to coach volleyball later in the year. He himself loves to play volleyball, soccer and is an avid bass fisherman, competing in several area tournaments every year.
