Fund raising drive for CT Scanner to kick off Oct. 20 in RR

News Release
Riverside Foundation

Just imagine if a cancer specialist could look deep inside you and pinpoint the beginnings of that tumor before it’s had a chance to spread throughout your body.
Just imagine if a physician could see the blockage in your loved one’s brain in time to administer life saving therapy before that stroke causes irreparable damage.
Just imagine if you could be wheeled directly into local facilities, for an urgent CT Scan, rather than having to wait days, weeks, or months for an opening at a distant facility.
Just imagine, if your local healthcare providers, could direct all their efforts to your immediate CT scan needs, instead of having to waste precious minutes and hours jumping through the hoops of distant bureaucrats, trying to obtain approvals
Just imagine...
We don’t have to imagine. Our community is making it a reality.
Riverside Healthcare Facilities will be installing a CT Scanner, the gold standard in diagnostic technology at LaVerendrye Hospital within the year.
Some very determined visionaries at ‘Care Close 2 Home 2’ are going to make it happen. All it’s going to take is a bit of hard cash from all our pockets.
It’s only a million and a half bucks.
The “Just Imagine” campaign kicks off, bright and early, Friday, October 20 at 7:00 a.m. at the Rainy River Royal Canadian Legion, with a community pancake breakfast and a starter’s pistol. The pistol will set Bill Michl of Fort Frances down Highway #11 on a one day 60-mile ‘Run for the Scan’
But Bill will have some help from other District runners. Some will accompany him part of the way. Others community members will be out to cheer him on as he passes through. Watch and listen to your local media, for his schedule coming next week. Call the Campaign Office at 274-4803 if you’re interested in running.
At Emo, the Royal Canadian Legion will host another community gathering with a soup and sandwich luncheon at noon and an opportunity for you to come out and show your support. You will come, won’t you?
Bill will finish his 60-mile ‘Run for the Scan’ with a reception at the Fort Frances Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion at 6:00 p.m. Be there to cheer him across the finish line.
Together this is going to be a snap!
