People of Rainy River and Bergland were committed to weigh-in after Thanksgiving weekend. It was difficult for the majority to maintain a balance eating and exercising over the last week. The result proved how difficult it was since the group gained more weight than they lost.
The program runs over 12 weeks and the majority of you have lost a substantial amount of weight so far. Remember that holidays, vacation and family gatherings are not an every day situation. We need to enjoy these special days so you can expect some weight gain. The key is that we get back on track after the event and work harder to lose those extra pounds to attain your weekly goal (for most of us it is one or two pounds per week).
The Body Wellness Program in conjunction with the Biggest Losers Contest offers you ways to get motivated. It assists you in your quest to lose weight, teaches you how to recognize what works for you, and offers support individually and with the group. Most of all – it encourages you how to be patient.
I have noticed the last few weeks that some participants have not identified on paper their goals and commitment. Studies state that individuals obtain greater success when writing down their daily food intake and exercise. It allows them to see if they are keeping food group quality and quantity adequate. It also makes them reflect on why they eat (hunger, habit or boredom). I would like all of you to take the time to read “Eat Well 10 Steps to a Healthier You” in your package.
The Rainy River Biggest Loser does not want his/her name in the paper. He/she lost 5.5 lbs and received a fruit basket prepared by Susan’s Corner Store. The group lost 33 lbs but gained 50.5 lbs making the net gain of -16.5lbs. The door prize was won by Lainie Carpenter. She chose a mug donated by the Northern Lights Credit Union in Rainy River and a t-shirt given by Radio B93 fm.
In Bergland Doreen Tolen was the Biggest Loser with a 2.5 lbs loss, her fruit basket was prepared by Cloverleaf Store in Emo. The winner of the door prize was Maryanne McCormick who chose the gift provided by Pam, Melissa and Kim Venables. The group lost 12.6 lbs and gained 13.4 making a net gain of .8lbs. Last week’s door prize winner, Nancy Gates, claimed her prize – a Safeway gift card.
