Laurel Desrosier
F.W.I.

Forest women’s Institute met at the old Blue Church on October tenth. Joyce Penner was hostess and Peggy Livingston was co-hostess.
Rose Hanson was thrilled to discover that the old piano was still there and she played us a tune on it. Dorothy Wiersema called the meeting to order and Peggy Livingston read the Mary Stewart collect. Ten members answered the roll call which was bring a Halloween decoration. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Joyce Penner gave the financial report and it was accepted by the members. Carol Clifford read highlights from the Connecting Link. We had a letter from the Legion asking us to lay a wreath on Remembrance Day. Joyce and Eleanor will lay the wreath for us. Rose Hanson Made a motion to pay all bills and Eleanor Wiersema seconded the motion. Dorothy Wieresema gave us an informative report on the area convention that was held in Dryden. The next convention will be held in Rainy River in September 2007. Laurel Desrosier gave a report on the two meetings that she attended at the Rainy River District Women’s Institute Museum. The good news is that we are finally moving to a new location on Tyrell Street in Emo. We are still working hard to raise money to help support our museum. There will be a fall supper at the Bergland Hall at five o’clock on October twenty first to help this cause. The menu is roast pork, mashed potato and gravy, turnip and vegetables, cabbage rolls, salad bar and desserts.
There will be a silent auction table, door prizes, and entertainment.
Our branch will do the salad bar. We made plans for this. Marlene Tiboni won the draw and Joyce Penner won the door prize. Dorothy Wiersema adjourned the meeting and Vivian Hartnell seconded the motion. Joyce and Peggy served a delicious lunch. True to her fun loving form Rose Hanson read us an entertaining poem entitled Are you lonesome tonight senior version.
