Two students from Riverview School in Rainy River have qualified to advance to the National Chess Championships.
Kevin Zhang, grade 2, ended up with a perfect five point score to win the age 6-7 group and a berth to the nationals.
Lemuel Caradice, gr. 1, finished 3rd in the same age group with three pts. He also qualified for the nationals.
Because Zhang had a perfect score he also won free entry into next year’s regional qualifier at Crossroads School in Devlin.
Caradice will be attending the nationals which are in Ottawa next July. No word as to whether Zhang will go as of yet.
