Anton (Tony) Hovorka, 94

It is with great sadness that the family of Anton Hovorka announces his passing on Sunday October 22, 2006 at La Verendrye General Hospital, Fort Frances at the age of 94.
Anton was born on May 19, 1912 in Mahnomen MN to Anton and Mary Hovorka. In 1943 Anton and his wife Rosie and their three children moved to Rainy River, ON. Over the years he operated numerous businesses including, hauling pulp wood, taxi service, school bus route and a grocery store and barber shop. In later years Anton operated a mail route to the Harris Hill area. Anton later married Margaret Antonson who predeceased him in 1992.
Lovingly remembered by daughter Christine Green of International Falls MN; Sylvia Shannon of Renfrew, ON; and son Robert Hovorka of Rainy River, ON. Sadly missed by grandchildren Danny La Pierre (Bonny); Gregory Green (Rhonda), Cindy Lopez, Debby (Shannon), Jerry Jr. and Brett Shannon and many great grandchildren.
Also survived by brother Joseph (Lillian) Hovorka of Vassar MB; step daughter Irene (Mike) Baranowski of Nestor Falls ON and many nieces and nephews.
Anton was also predeceased by Sister Annie Szeliga, Brother Frank Hovorka, and step daughter Alice Bernst.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday October 26, 2006 at 1pm from the Knox United Church, Rainy River, ON. Visitation will be two hours prior to service. Rev. Frances Flook Officiating. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Rainy River, ON.
