Disappointed by number in attendance at candidates forum
Gladys Yeo
Dear Editor, I attended the All Candidate Forum on November 2nd at the Legion hall. I was disappointed in the number of people who attended. There was a fair sized crowd, but there certainly could have been more. Come on taxpayers, are you not interested in your community?
It was also disappointing that two of the present councillors did not attend due to work commitments. Each candidate spoke very well on their ideas for a future Rainy River.
The two candidates running for Mayor also had many good ideas on benefitting our town. It is sad that whichever person is voted in as Mayor, leaves the other one not even able to be a councillor. I believe that either one would be an asset to the town.
We all know we are losing our population and businesses. Other towns have fared similar situations and have worked together to overcome. Lets be positive and help our elected officials in making Rainy River a great place to live. We have abundant resources such as the river and lake etc.. Lets promote them and present the town as a place to come and enjoy the lifestyle we have.
A note to you Ken, we all enjoy your paper and you are doing a great job covering community events.
To keep everyone informed, I hope to see the council news making headlines on the front page.
Thank you.
