RRHS hosts grade 8 volleyball tourney

Last week at Rainy River High School there was a “Bridging the Gap” volleyball tournament.
Grade 8 students, including the Riverview Royals, Big Grassy Timberwolves, Our Lady of the Way Voyageurs, Sturgeon Creek Sturgeons and the McCrosson-Tovell Wolverines participated in a 3 on 3 tournament and had an introduction to High School.
Tours of RRHS were given by Mr. Arpin’s grade twelve gym class. The day was a great success thanks to everyone who participated and helped out.
In High School Sports this week the Girl’s Hockey Team is playing Warroad Tuesday night at 5:30. On Tuesday, November 28, they will be meeting B.E.S.T.E. in the Baudette Arena.
The boy’s hockey will travel to their first two games; the first one on Saturday against Bemidji and then on Tuesday they are off to Hallock to play Kittson Central. Good Luck to both teams!
This week is Drug Awareness week at the Rainy River High School. There are several event going on to remind student of the consequences of taking drugs; Monday will be Day of the Dead, Tuesday games will be run in the gym over lunch hour, Wednesday the OPP will be visiting the school with the drunk driving simulator car, Thursday will be a volleyball game against the OPP, and on Friday the public is invited to join the Graduating class of 2007 for a pancake breakfast between 7:00 and 9:30 am. The cost is $3.00.
A generous donation was made to the Sports Committee by the Rainy River Royals Fastball Team in memory of Gus Lindberg. Thank you.
The sports committee will be having a fundraiser beginning this week. You will be able to buy a square for a quilt. More information will be available next week. Watch for our merchandise flyer as well.
