Fourth Annual Alzheimers event planned. Mark your calendars it is time for the Alzheimer’s annual fund raising meal in Rainy River.
“A Dinner to Remember” has been extremely popular the past few years with tickets completely selling out last year.
The event features Chef “Uncle” Bob Johnston’s secret roast beef recipe that has earned the event a reputation of excellence the past three years.
The 4th Annual dinner will be held January 20, 2007 at the Rainy River Legion. In addition to the roast beef dinner and all the trimmings, there will be a penny table which also sold out last year.
At present there is also the 2nd Annual Chairs for Charity raffle going on in town. Local artists Patti Diebel and Greg Armistead have taken on the task of making some old chairs into works of art.
One chair is on display at the Village Green at present and has a fishing hole theme.
Tickets for the chairs are on sale around town and all three chairs will be drawn for at the dinner on the 20th. The chairs make for great decor and are great conversation pieces!
All proceeds from the event will go towards local Alzheimer’s Society programs. Last year about $1,500 was raised.
Ticket numbers are limited and are available at the Rainy River Record office at 312 3rd Street. If any tickets are left they will be available at the door. However, event coordinator Linda Johnston expects them to sell fast and says, “Getting advanced tickets is best.”
Johnston also noted that anyone wishing to participate in the penny table can come in and do just the penny table. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and supper will be served at 5 p.m. on the 20th.
