It was Anne Gillie’s last home game as a Low/RR/Indus Bear and for a while it looked like the girls were going to pull off a picture perfect finish to her career.
After the first period it was 3-0 for Kenora.
But the Bears fought back tooth and nail to rally within one.
Seneca Brown scored for the Bears at 3:12 of the 2nd period.
Brenley Anderson then lit up the board at 5:26. Both goals were unassisted.
Kenora fired back at 5:59 but the Bears were determined.
At 7:37 Brenley Anderson scored her second goal of the night assisted by Holland Johnson. It was now 4-3 and the Bears were hoping for another strong period in the third.
But it was not to be. Kenora pegged the net five times to win 9-4.
Both the Bears regular and backup goalies were not able to play. Kristin Moen played net for the first time in a game setting.
Coach’s Comments
We were missing our regular goalie and back-up goalie, so we knew we had our work cut out for us! Kristin Moen was good enough to accept the challenge of playing goalie, something she had never done in a game setting before. She did a good job of keeping us in the game, as our girls came back from a three goal deficit and narrowed the gap to 3-4 in the second period. However, Kenora went on to score five unanswered goals, and we failed to keep up to their level of play.
We're down to four regular season games, with three of them against section opponents. We'll need a complete team effort and continued hard work if we want to advance in the playoffs.
