A local man is playing a part in Operation Apollo as a member of the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan.
Jason Kaus, a 1996 graduate of Rainy River High School is one of 750 Canadians now deployed to Afghanistan to help U.S. forces hunt down Al Kaieda forces and provide security in that war-torn nation.
Kaus a member of Princess Patricia Canadian Infantry, First Regiment Horse Artillery, 3rd Battalion, is stationed at Canadian Forces Base Shilo in Manitoba. Public Affairs liaison Lori Truscott confirmed Monday that Kaus has been deployed in Operation Apollo, but for security reasons could not elaborate on what his specific job is while stationed in Afghanistan.
Citizens wishing to send Kaus a letter of support or encouragement are able to do so by emailing lfrc@mb.sympatico.ca or faxing (204) 765-3859. All notes should be put to the attention of Exec. Director Genella McIntyre or Linda Beuchemin. They will then be forwarded to Kaus.
