The Rainy River Junior Curling Club held its annual family funspiel on Sunday at the Rainy River Curling Club.
Throughout the year 25 junior curlers came out every Monday to learn curling skills from coaches Patti Bonhomme and Deb Armstrong. Armstrong said that they averaged about 18 kids every Monday and the kids, who are ages 6 and up, learned the basics of how to deliver a rock, sweep, call and read the signals from the skip.
Sunday their parents were encouraged to come out and play some fun games with them. Eight teams of four took to the ice and at the end of the round robin play, Carling Nordin’s rink of Mitch Seguin, Tim Nordin and Grace Seguin defeated the all Bourre rink of Jessie Bourre, Lindsay Bourre, Rick Bourre and Viv Bourre.
The day was capped off with prize presentations and a spaghetti dinner for all in attendance. The Junior Curling program will continue until March 4th when they will hold a wind up.
