Don’t degrade our fire department

Dear Editor Sire;
Allow me to express my thoughts on the Rainy River Fire Dept. We are the first to be called if there would be a flood or storm or other disaster, or an act of terrorism. We respond to every emergency without pay, medals or much gratitude.
If things go right, we aren’t really needed. If things go wrong - we aren’t good enough. We do what we can with what we have and are proud of what we accomplished.
Take a peek next time this community suffers a calamity and see who is first on the scene. The local volunteer fire department! Will have been on the scene for some time before any one else got there.
Before you degrade the local Fire Department, volunteer and get out and get in their shoes.
