Congratulations community!
Dear Editor,
I would like to congratulate the community on the high quality and amount of youth programming they produced this winter.
We had several different sports and activities all running at the same time with a very high level of involvement and success; it was very impressive. Our children had fun, learned new skills and made friends. The amount volunteer time put in was incredible and so uplifting to see. Thank you to all the organizers, coaches and assistants that made all of this possible.
Now that winter is drawing to an end it is time some of the activities to wind-up and new ones to start.
Kristine Brown of the RR Chamber of Commerce is organizing a Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7th in Hannam Park from 11-1. It promises to be a lot of fun!
Soccer Registration will be held on April 16th and 17th at the Recreation Centre from 6:00 - 7:00 PM each evening. Monique Gall and I would like to thank the coaches that have said they will return this year and we are still looking for more to help out. Let us know at registration if you are interested.
I have also heard about kids wanting to play T-ball and baseball, anybody interested in heading that up? Contact the Rec. Board or the Town Office (they can point you in the right direction) and see what can be done.
It is so exciting to see so many positive things happening in Rainy River. Town Beautification is beginning to meet once again so let’s everyone pitch in and make this town look good. Playing in the dirt can be fun! The more people who help out the lighter the work, the lighter the work the more fun we have, the more people who will be interested in helping out, the more beautiful the town, the more appealing we are to outsiders so let’s chip in and have fun.
Finally, I would like to congratulate Jeri Irish and Jennelle Lowes on getting the women’s hockey team started again; we are all having so much fun and can’t wait to go to the tournament next week in Ignace. Thank you to Vaughn Murray, Ken Jasper, Peter Tiboni and Matt Godin for coaching us old women and trying to teach us something.
–Sincerely
Rebecca Tolen
