John Almers, 94

John Almers, age 94, of Fort Frances, Ontario passed away on Saturday, March 31st, 2007 at Rainycrest Home for the Aged in Fort Frances, Ontario.
He was born on January 10th, 1913 in Morson to Johann and Nora Almers. He lived in the Morson area all of his life. In 1943 he was united in marriage to Yvonne Godin. They were inseparable. Together they worked at various tourist camps, commercial fishing, hunting and enjoying the outdoors. At home he enjoyed tinkering on boat motors and engines. He built various cabins in the Morson area.
John was predeceased by his wife Yvonne on July 4th, 2000; parents Johann and Nora; brother Almer; sisters-in-law Laura Almers, Pearl Connon; brothers-in-law John Blight, Emil Godin, Wilfred (Clara) Godin, George (Margaret) Godin, Louis (Laura) Godin, Gene Lind, Fred Connon and Tom Clarke as well as several nieces and nephews.
He leaves behind his sister Elizabeth Blight of Morson; brother William Almers of Rainy River; sisters-in-laws Lorraine Almers of Fort Frances, Mathilda Clarke of Fort Frances, Merle Lind of Sudbury, Irene Connon of Calgary, AB, Eleanor Sonstegard of Baudette, MN, Iona Godin of Rainy River; brothers-in-laws Almer (Evelyn) Godin of Rainy River and Tom Connon of Fort Frances as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rainy River, Ontario. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
Organist will be Rosemary Laevens.
Pastor Carolyn Kreger will officiate with interment in the Bergland Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Wes Blight, Darryl Godin, Dan Godin, Bill Godin, Brad Godin, and Randy Godin.
