Caouette and Kuzyk tie for carnival queen

For only the third time in Rainy River Winter Carnival History there was a tie for carnival queen over the weekend.
Miss Jena Caouette and Kelli Kuzyk both sold exactly the same amount of buttons to get elected to the annual Lions Carnival Queen contest in Rainy River.
Lion Deb Armstrong said that she could only remember one other time in the 14 years she had been doing it. However another person said it happened in the 1980s too.
Shocked by the tie, the Lions were caught off guard and only had one grand prize trophy and bouquet of flowers present, as well as one crown and cape. However they did say they will rectify that situation and do have another crown and cape.
Runner up was Trienke van Rozen.
The rest of the carnival went over fairly well with quite a few people participating in all the day’s events.
The winning carnival queen button number is #2854. If you have this button you have won $100 cash. Contact Deb Armstrong at 852-3921 to claim your prize.
