Morson Women’s Institute seeking new members

By Rosemary Laevens

Carol Pratt, President of Morson W.I., has returned from her winter in Texas. Carol and Rosemary Laevens will hostess the April W.I. meeting at the Morson Hall, April 26, at l p.m. All members and those wishing to become members are urged to attend.
There will be election of officers, and members will make plans for the projects and activities anticipated for summer and fall.
The February meeting was held at Helen Kellner’s house with Mary Sanderson co-hostess. Local W.I. By-Laws, prepared by JoAnn Moen and Nancy Miller, were presented. Rosemary gave Notice of a Motion she would make at the April meeting to accept these By-Laws.
Acting President Laurie Pentney presided over a lively discussion of the W.I. Museum at Emo, the cell towers at Bergland and Morson, and the report from the last Area Convention. The use of washable cloth bags when buying groceries and goods was also discussed. This would help to eliminate the proliferation of plastic bags in the area garbage dumps.
The W.I. District meeting will be at the Stratton Seniors Friendship Centre on May 5th. Morson W.I. will be responsible for the Courtesy Resolution.
Anyone wishing to attend the meeting on April 26 will be welcomed as a guest or prospective member. The Morson W.I., over the years, has been instrumental in working on projects like the cell towers, for the good of the area.
