James Arthur Tooth, 82

James Arthur Tooth (Art) passed away peacefully in St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, April 22, in the presence of his family.
Art was born on May 16, 1924 in Oakville, Manitoba to John and Sarah Tooth. At the age of 19 he joined the RCAF and served in England, India, Ceylon, and Burma. Art received his degree in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1950.
He retired as vice president of country operations for Pioneer Grain Ltd. after a career of 30 years. He is survived by his wife Jean, of 51 years, sister and brother Gwen and Stewart. Also, sons, Glenn and Robert, daughters-in-law Monique and Alison and grandchildren, Skylar, Constance, Morgan, Sarah, Samantha; Nick, Ceilidh, and Cam.
As an avid sportsman, he loved to hunt and fish. He was inducted as a member of the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame, leading the 1953 CUAC Blues to the senior Manitoba championship.
A funeral service was held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with interment at Oakville Cemetery, following. A memorial service in Rainy River was held on April 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Knox United Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Art’s memory to St. Boniface Research Fund.
