Audition call for kids to play in Alice in Wonderland

By Laura Singleton
Pequana Playhouse

Pequana Playhouse will once again be providing local kids with some summer fun and a chance to shine onstage!
For five years, Pequana has been arranging the funding to bring in Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, a production company from Barrett, Minnesota that specializes in complete show packages for children to rehearse and perform. In an amazing one week, two energetic and talented young actor/directors lead the kids through a whirlwind of fun-filled practices and finish by mounting two performances for family and friends. The action takes place at the Lake of the Woods School auditorium with scripts, music, costumes and makeup all included. Best of all, the program is free with only a nominal charge for show tickets. Kids aged seven and up are all given roles.
Canadian kids have always been welcomed, and the numbers have been growing each year on both sides of the border as families discover what an excellent program this is.
This year’s show will be a musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland - featuring such notable characters as the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, Tweedledum and Tweedledee - and will take place the week of June 25-29. Sign-ups will take place Monday, June 25 at 8:00 a.m. at L.O.W. School. Tickets for the performances will be available at the door Friday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday June 29 at 2:00 p.m.
