R.D. Koeneman Lumber of Rainy River appeared in Provincial Offenses Court Thursday and the judge remanded the case until May 2, 2002. However, that is not an actual court date in Rainy River and, according to the courthouse, it will be brought forward this week for a judge to remand it to May 9, 2002.
The company was charged by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) with five counts of failing to notify WSIB within three days after learning of an injury to an employee, and three counts of failing to provide an employee wage statement.
The charges are violations under sections 152(3) and 152 (1.1) respectively of the
Workplace Safety and Insurance Act. In addition, co-owner Richard Koeneman has been charged with three counts of failing to provide an employee wage statement and co-owner Myron Williams has been charged with five counts of failing to notify WSIB within three days after learning of an injury to an employee at their plant in Rainy River.
The courthouse also confirmed that the bench warrants for Koeneman and Williams were in fact rescinded.
