The spiritual story of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat definitely raised everyone’s spirits who saw it.
Packed houses at all four shows last Thursday to Sunday brought rave reviews from everyone.
The musical story, the incredible sets and the amazing voices that brought so many genres alive for the audience were truly phenomenal.
The two lead members of the cast, Joseph (Jeff Fraser) and Narrator (Gary Axford) did exactly what they were supposed to do; they captivated the audience with their extremely strong voices and led everyone through the two hour production which not only had biblical tones, but also some modern day comedy thrown in.
The rest of the cast danced and sang without missing a step or a beat from one scene to another. No one in the audience found the show to be dragging along and even when a major set change was required the goofy camel that emerged on stage to kill time entertained everyone.
Director Tami Bredeson is in the wrong profession. She should be directing these types of productions full time. It was evident through the energy on stage that she has what it takes to bring Broadway home to small town Minnesota and Ontario.
Over the four days crowds of about 4-500 people attended and all were pleased with the entertainment value they received; many of them went to all four shows.
Bredeson said that she is thinking of directing Fiddler on the Roof or Phantom of the Opera. Many fans of Joseph, including this writer, are eager for either or perhaps both of them to come to fruition.
