It was jam packed with talent and all performances were a big hit with the 200 people on hand for Rainy River High School's 2nd Annual Talent night last Wednesday.
Shauna McInerney started the evening off with a performance that was destined to be the best of the night. Dressed in oriental costume and wearing a wig and make-up, she sang the Christina Aguilera song Reflections.
The theme song for the movie Moulan Rouge, McInerney added to her performance with a big screen video of the movie behind her. Her powerful voice, together with the magnificent props clearly threw her to the top of the pack. She finished second last year.
Coming in second this year was last year's top talent, Kayla Lauzon. She sang a popular country song and was definitely a contender again this year. This eleven year old sounds like she is destined for a career in singing.
Third place went to long time musician Heidi Ivall. She sang from the ever popular Shania Twain's repertoire. Her rendition You're Still the One was a big hit with the audience.
The People's Choice Award went to The Wangs, a young band from the area. It consists of Tim Galusha, Ryan McInerney, Jonny Barron, Derek Enns and Nate Visconti. They sang A Place for My Head by Lincoln Park and were clearly popular with the audience who demanded an encore at the end of the evening.
Another crowd pleaser was Lisa Shumaker who had a guest singer, Erica Tymkin sing Leaving on a Jet Plane.
Other performers for the evening were Jamie Brown who sang a song he wrote; Matt Neilson who performed several Yo-Yo tricks; Valkyrie Clark who sang Where I Used to Have a Heart by Martina McBride; and Jay Neilson who performed several piano tunes.
