Emo Spring Fever Days a huge success

Emo’s Spring Fever days turned out to be one of the best. Parking was scarce in downtown Emo. Stores were crowded with people looking for bargains and they found them!
Scores of people participated in the instore prizes and registered for the $1000 in Emo Bucks.
At the Emo Arena, Nestor Falls Marine drew good crowds for their display of Marina supplies.
Also at the arena was The Whiskey Jack Woodcarvers led by Steve Latimer. Latimer said, “Business was brisk”.
The Emo Public Library with Shirley Sheppard and Kathy Leek experienced good support at the book sale.
At the Legion Craft Show there were nine tables. They included two Penny Tables, operated by the Sea Cadets and Stratton Toy Library. Ray Bragg, Inga Szeder, Inga Schiebler had tables of various items and Sherri Stamarski was back with her table of baked goodies, Carol Inkster had her all natural home made products, Marie Whitting, Gladys Enns and Lorie-Anne Shortreed with homemade wreaths and potted plants, Mylissa Whitmell, Marj Stang and Irene Gerula with stuffed cuddly teddy bears, each one inscribed with a different occasion title.
Carla Jack, Educational Consultant with her discovery toys, caught the interest of many, Sheila Jackson, Mary Kay consultant had a variety of glamour products, Mel Sheppard, Nancy & Barb, LaVerne Caul had a variety of bird houses available and Elaine Wilson was well stocked with clothes.
The one man sawmill display by Ken Inkster at Norlund’s drew large interested patrons, Emo Borderland Snowmobile Club had an open house at their club house at the Municipal Garage, District 17 operations director was on hand to answer questions.
Village Variety had their minnow race. The Scouts with a fairily good attendance had their spaghetti supper at Knox United.
The Little Centennial House had two bake sales, Devlin United Church, one day and the following day Off lake Covenant Church staged their event. It did not may any difference which way people turned their attention, there was something special for them to do!
Nestor Falls Marine boat package was won by Raymond Polz of Fort Frances. Kids draw won by Seth Lauzon. The Emo Grocery Hamper winner was Ethel Alexander, Gillons’ - number of candies in jar (2278) three winners with identical numbers 2281 was, Josh Wilson, Valance Allan, Nathan Brigham, each will receive $10 plus 1/3 of the candies.
Scrap-A-Bit - winner of the gift certificate was Mary O’Connor, Drug Store winners of $100 gift certificates, one drawn each day, Lucy Wilson, Tori Sheppard, & Gail Donaldson. Winning a CD player from Emo Drugs was Dan Haglin and Lego Soccer, Don Angus. CIBC colouring contest winners were as follows, Ages 4-6 winner, Morgan Jourdain, Ages 6-9 years, Karlene Pollard, Ages 10-112 Chantel Heyens, Adult winner was Dianne Stafford.
Winners at Village Variety were as follows - Tanya Foy, Calculator; Tami Mann, Choco fondue set; Cliff Westover, Ella Carruthers, Cyndi Bolen, Shirley Bell, Glen Kellar, Jason Lilley, each won take out coffee mugs. Sam Westover, calculator; Charlene Bazylewski, 15” pizza; Jody Faragher, 9” pizza; Emma Smart, Rugrats watch; Morgan Ikert, Pepsi T-shirt; Marilyn Faragher, calculator; Rachel Hettinga, Sherri McKelvie each won a Pepsi T-shirt; Deb Carlson, Jolly Ranchers clock; Ruthanne McGinnis, Rugrats watch; Gladys Viehbeck, Hubba Bubba lunch bag; and Ray Cyr Pepsi T-shirt.
