They kick! They score!
Rainy River High School Owls soccer teams had a fairly good outing at the first tournament of the year this past weekend in Fort Frances.
While neither the boys or girls teams came out on top they finished middle of the pack on both counts. Girls coach Marvin MacDonald said, “We are holding our own against everyone except Fort Frances who completely dominated the tournament.”
The Girls tied two games 1-1 against the Dryden Eagles and 0-0 against the Sioux Lookout Warriors. They suffered a tough but convincing loss to the Fort Frances Muskies and also lost to Thomas Aquinas Saints (Kenora).
“The girls look pretty good even though we have a young team,” said MacDonald.
The boy Owls defeated T.A. Saints with a 4-2 score. They also tied the Warriors 0-0 but also lost to the Muskies and the Eagles.
The next exhibition tournament is May 10-11th in Dryden. After that NORWOSSA playoffs will be on May 15-16th in Kenora. How will the Owls do there? MacDonald said, “You never know what can happen.”
