Baseball season is just around the corner

Ball season is just around the corner. Any mixed or women’s team’s interested in playing in the league this summer please call me and register before the 17th of May. Target date to have the leagues up and running is the last week of May, if not earlier.
For youth ball please register by May 10th by calling the rec centre at 852-4446. An adult is needed to run the t-ball this year, and lend a hand with the youth ball. If you have time to spare and enjoy spending time with the youth please call 852-4446.
As many of you are probably aware, we have a men’s fastball team that is starting up soon in Rainy River. It will be wonderful to have fastball back in our town. Come out and cheer for your favourite ball teams.
Summer Active 2002 is a provincial contest that awards prizes for being physically active. It runs from May 8th to June 21st. To participate, “get moving” and then register your daily physical activity on the Summer active Web site. Call the Health Unit for more information.
On May 24 at 3:30 there will be a “Safety on Wheels” offered at the recreation centre. This will include bike safety, roller blade and skateboard safety. Also on May 30, 2002 a family volleyball tournament and a poker walk will be held at Hannam Park. Please watch for posters on these events.
The annual Sore Arm Slow-pitch tournament is slated for June 8, 9, 10. I am taking teams now, if you are interested please give me a call.
I would like to express my gratitude to all the volunteers that came out to help paint the upstairs hall at the recreation centre. A lot of hard work and hours went into the hall, and your help with everything is so much appreciated.
