So far three teams fishing The Emo Walleye Classic later this month and the Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce Live Release Walleye Tournament in September are in the running for a bonus prize.
The two tournaments have joined forces in 2002 to declare “River Champions.” The River Champs will receive a combined cash prize of $1,200.00, sponsored equally by both tournaments. The River Champions will be the team that competes in both 2002 events and finishes with the highest combined weight.
The inaugural Emo Walleye Classic takes place on May 31st and June 1st. The Emo Walleye Classic has a limited field of 50 teams. As of May 6th there were eight positions available. If any of the 80 teams fishing in the RRWT wish to fish the Emo tournament as well, there could be as many as a dozen teams contending for the River Champions title.
The River Champions will be presented their prize after the weigh-in at the Rainy River and District Chamber of Commerce Catch & Release Walleye Tournament on Sunday September 22nd.
