Mother Nature cooperated on Saturday, blessing the vendors and the customers of the Rainy River Farmer’s Market with warm sunny weather as it opened for the season.
Market manager Norma Blight was very pleased with the number of vendors and the turnout at the first market of the season.
Some regular vendors were back again this year and some new ones increased product selection for customers.
Margaret Janzen’s always popular homemade baked goods are back again this year as is Joan Hagarty’s crafts, Liz and Trina Blight’s stained glass and decorated saw blades, Ray and Evelyn Bragg’s wooden crafts, Inge Szeder’s sewing, Annie vanRozen’s special cheeses and tupperware, and Lou Brown’s quilts and plants. New this year is John and Gladys Enns Green Hands Nursery plants and Twisted Oak Wood Works. Also new is Marjorie and Bonnie Scott’s garden decorations.
Norma Blight said that the market will be open now until fall every Saturday morning. Some special markets will also be held with one coming on June 8th for Merchant Madness. A giant flea market will be held in conjunction with the farmer’s market and tables will be able to be rented from the market. Those interested in having a table at the market any weekend or on June 8th can call Norma Blight evenings 852-3650 or stop by the market on Saturday mornings.
