Anna Marjorie Douglas, 83
Marjorie Douglas (nee Anna Naucler) born September 20, 1924 in Rainy River passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday January 26th at the Ste Joseph Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Marjorie was predeceased by her parents, Angelita and Hjalmer Naucler, husband Arthur and daughter-in-law Ethel Douglas. Marjorie was also predeceased by her brothers, Martin, Norman, Kendall and her older sister Evelyn Fausher.
As a young girl, Marjorie loved to dance and it was at this time at a dance in the “Old Mosquito Hall” that she met and later married her future husband Art. She was united in marriage to Arthur Douglas on September 12th, 1942 by Rev. Russell Peden.
Marjorie and Art farmed at the Naucler homestead on the banks of the Rainy River in Atwood Township until 1956. In earlier years Marjorie worked at the Style Rite Clothing Store and the Post Office in Rainy River.
In 1982 Marj and Art moved to Thunder Bay to be closer to their family. Marjorie was a dearly loved mother, grand-mother and great grandmother, taking part in all aspects of her growing family’s life. Mother was our greatest champion in life, always loving us unconditionally and encouraging us at every turn. She had a great love for God which shone through as the happy attitude in life she abundantly shared with others. She thoroughly enjoyed her times with family at Phil & Ethel’s cottage on Polly Lake near Nipigon. She lived out her later years residing close to her son Steven (Ludy) Douglas and daughter Jane Caren & Family.
Surviving her loss are friend, David Hartnell, Arizona, three sons, Phillip of Nipigon, Steven (Ludy) Thunder Bay, Mark (Susan) Rainy River, their sons, Dustin, Colby (Jennifer)and Sheldon. Daughter Jane (Brent) of Thunder Bay, their daughters Nicole, Sarah, Jennifer, and Julia Anna. She leaves one brother John (Sonia) Naucler of Washington, USA.
We do not mourn as those who have no hope.
