If the weatherman is right Saturday will be a great day for the 11th Annual Morson Fishing Derby.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Morson Hall where a pancake breakfast will be held until 10 a.m. Participants can also register at the weigh station on the ice.
At 8 a.m. anglers can begin fishing on Mylie’s Bay, Lake of the Woods. To access the lake they can drive their vehicles onto the ice at the Government Dock at the end of Highway 621 in Morson and follow plowed ice roads.
Fishing will go on all day with cash prizes for the three largest walleye, three largest northern pikes, and prizes for hidden weight and the most perch being handed out at the end of the day. The tournament is a live release tourney so anglers must take their fish to the weigh station where they will be recorded and then released.
At 4 p.m. fishing will end but social hour at the Morson Hall will begin. At 6 p.m. the winners of the tournament will be announced and then a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings will be served at the hall.
There will also be food available at the burger booth on the ice and at the Morson Hall all day during the tournament.
Cost to fish in this year’s tournament is $10 and all are welcome.
