Mary Alice Bay, 92

On Monday March 3, 2008 at the La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, Ont, Mary Alice Bay (nee Blackie) of Rainy River, Ont passed away at the age of 92.
Mary was born in Kenora, Ont on June 1, 1915 to Frederick and Pricilla Blackie. The family moved to Port Arthur where Mary received her education. Mary was a hard worker, working as a short order cook at the Royalton Hotel in Port Arthur and later for Marathon Paper at Caramat and Stevens, Ont and for Abitibi and Ontario Hydro at White Dog Falls.
In 1966 Mary purchased the Rainy River Department Store, after selling the store she worked at Arctic Cat, retiring at the age of 67. She will be always remembered for her many crafts and fondness for crocheting.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Pricilla Blackie, husband Henrik Bay, son David, best friend and companion Wilbert Runke, sister Eleanor Christenson, and brothers George and Russell Blackie.
She will be lovingly remembered by and sadly missed by daughter Diane (Mike) Paziuk, grandchildren Donna (Rick) Hagerty and Michelle (Clayton) Borkowski, two great grandchildren Shae and Shannon Hagarty, and three great great grandchildren Taya, Brinneal, and Seamus Hagerty, one sister Ruth Chapman and many nieces and nephews. Mary will be fondly remembered and missed by all.
