RRHS honoured its best students and athletes last Tues.

Last Tuesday evening about 100 students, parents and staff of Rainy River High School gathered at the Rainy River Legion to honour the top athletes and academics of the 2001-02 year.
Following dinner students making the honour roll were presented with certificates recognizing their accomplishments.
Students making the honour roll for one reporting period in 2001-02 were: Ashley Armstrong, Charles Bechard, Todd Brannan, Laurie Brown, Nicole Burner, Teresa Caul, Jessica Creason, Ron Ernst, Sam Ernst, Brooke Ewald, Sharlene Hanson, Heidi Heyens, Laurie Ivall, Phyllisity Jack, Vanessa Keeash, Kyle Kuzyk, Heather McLean, Tanya Newby, Ryan O’Connor, Kevin Olson, Jenna Pearson, Henning Peterson, Jenni Stafford, James Thompson, Jackie Wood and Krista Wood.
Students making the honour roll for two reporting periods in 2001-02 were: Ashley Andy, Nathan Armstrong, Trevor Bonot, Val Clarke, Kelli Kuzyk, Stacey Olson, Jason Seguin and Jaime Vandenbrand.
Students making the honour roll for three reporting periods in 2001-02 were: Mathew Ashworth, Jenny Burner, Jena Caouette, Ellen Gibson, Jamie Hall, Nicole Lafreniere, Paul Lafreniere, Heather Mailloux, Matthew Neilson, Erik Peterson, Jennifer Shrumm and Trienke van Rozen.
Principal Bob McGreevy had the distinct honour of presenting the Ontario Principals’ Council Student Leadership Award to Shar Hanson and Danielle Shrumm. “These ladies wanted to see things happen and were always willing to do the work to get them done,” said McGreevy.
Athletes of the year went to Marion Reimund and Travis Vandenbrand.
The director’s award, presented by teacher Paul Elliott, went to Shauna McInerney for her lead role in The Diary of Anne Frank. Elliott who has been involved with Owl Theatre productions for more than a decade said that, “This year it was as good as it gets. I had the best cast ensemble.” He said McInerney showed a great deal of enthusiasm, commitment and talent. “She used all of these (attributes) to make everyone around her look good!”
