All Ontario Bound: RRHS doubles team, Moen and Bartlett, clean up at NWOSSAs

Two of the four Rainy River High School badminton players that competed at NWOSSAAs last week are advancing to the All Ontario Championships!
Girls doubles team, Molly Bartlett and Kristin Moen went undefeated in Wawa, Ont. last week to win NWOSSAA gold. Of their five wins all of the best of three matches were over two straight. They played Michipicoten, Manitouwadge, West Gate, Hammarskjold and their fellow schoolmates Kate Bartlett and Brenley Anderson.
Anderson and Bartlett lost to Michipicoten and Moen and Bartlett to bring home bronze medals at NWOSSAAs. Unfortunately that did not earn them a birth to the All Ontarios.
The pair of Moen and Bartlett had a stellar season winning all their matches and only going to a game three twice. This is the second straight year for them to go to the All Ontarios, which are in Niagara Falls, Ont. May 1-3, 2008. Last year they won one game last year but feel they will do better this year. “We know what to expect and are looking for a medal this year,” said Moen.
Coach Guy Arpin said they are a formidable duo and he thinks they will do well at the All Ontarios. He said that many of the players at the championship play all year round and that the competition is stiff, but he feels Moen and Bartlett will be competitive.
The cost to go to the All Ontarios is about $5,000 and with so little time the girls have had little time to fund raise. Coach Arpin said that anyone wishing to help out can do so by calling the school at 852-3284. Bergland Friends of Recreation have already pledged $500 towards the cost of the trip.
Good luck girls!
